I was drafted into the military about a year after graduation in 1970. I was in the US Air Force for 24 years. During that time, I was stationed in Oklahoma, Korea, Florida, Strategic Air Command in Omaha (twice), Michigan, California, and my last five years of active duty were at the Pentagon in Washington DC. I retired from the Air Force in 1996.
I married my first wife in 1980 and we divorced in 1993. I met my current wife, Sandy, in 1995, we married in 1996, and we're still "living happily ever after".
In 1997, I began working as a government contract employee in the DC area and I continue to do so today, although I live near Greensboro GA. As a contract employee, I have worked for the Dept of Defense Joint Staff, FAA, TSA, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, & Logistics, and currently working for the Navy and the Dept of Commerce as a data analyst.
I can work anywhere with an internet connection, so in 2017 Sandy and I moved from Woodbridge VA to a Del Webb community on Lake Oconee in Greensboro GA. I tell everyone that I simply traded my hour and a half 30-mile commute for a ten second 30-foot commute.
When I'm not working, I spend most of my spare time fishing Lake Oconee.
