Ivan Broman

Ivan-Broman-ObituaryIt is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ivan L. Broman, on Friday, February 16th, 2018, from complications of pneumonia.

His death was sudden, yet quick and peaceful.

Ivan was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on September 11th, 1952, to Donald E. Broman and Genevieve M. Wolgemuth Broman. Ivan graduated from North East High School in 1970 and went on to the University of Nebraska where he earned his degree in architecture, in 1975. After a brief time in Omaha, he took a giant step and moved west to Arizona to further his architecture career. There he met his life partner and husband, Gene Bradford. This July, 2018, would have marked their 33rd anniversary. Always looking for the next great new project, He and Gene moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where they spent several years. Then on next to Colorado where Ivan was involved in projects in Aspen and Carbondale. When these projects were completed they continued on to Carmel, California, which became one of their favorite destinations. Of course, ever the rolling stones, Ivan accepted a 2 years stint in Savannah, Georgia, where he oversaw the building of Palmetto Bluff just across the river in South Carolina. Then in October of 2004, he and Gene moved to Park City where they have been living ever since having both agreed that Park City fit all of their dreams. It was time to settle.

Ivan collected a great group of friends during his journeys that still remain close to him. He enjoyed spending time with them doing simple things like being outdoors, bowling, fishing, poker games with the guys or just having beers anywhere. (Ivan liked his beer). He especially loved his dogs, Dodge and Rio, then Chiquito and Francesca.

Ivan's approach to life was "why not?". Always game to try anything new and without fear. He loved to laugh and was known for "taking it one step too far" to the delight of everyone. He will be remembered for his passion for architecture. He was incredibly devoted to his clients and was envied for his ability to stay level headed and calm. He lived life being sure that it was organized, surrounded by beautiful things; art and design and interesting people.

Ivan is survived by his husband, Gene Bradford. His 90 year old father, Donald Emory Broman. His brother, Jeff Broman (wife, Julie), his sister, Rene' Broman Nuss (husband, Greg) and his youngest brother, Kenneth Broman (wife Michelle), his sisters-in -law, Alice Bradford and Linda Bradford Lard (husband Dave), 8 nephews and nieces and 6 great nephews and nieces.

It goes without saying Ivan will be truly be missed by so many. He was taken away from us too soon. Please join us and wish him well on his next new great, perfectly drawn, adventure.

Ivan loved animals. If you'd like to make a donation in his name, please do so at either Canines with a Cause, Nuzzles and Company or Paws for Life. These amazing organizations can easily be found on Facebook.

A memorial celebrating Ivan's life will be held this Saturday February 24th, 2018, at the Tuhaye Club House, beginning at 3:00 pm.
